Rival de Loop (funny name isn’t it ?) is one of the private labels of the German drugstore Rossmann. You can find their shops in practically every town in Germany, and larger towns even have more than one.

Rival De Loop

Rival de Loop has many skin care lines and countless products for all different skin types.

This Age Performance Intensiv (meaning “intensive”, but you might have guessed J) Serum is meant to  be used on “very mature skin”, although it makes me wonder what comes next …..

It is supposed to visibly reduce wrinkles, optimalise skin structure and hydrate skin. According to its producer, it “Improves skin elasticity and reduces the signs of ageing.”

Recommended for 50+ and has a fourfold detox action. Sounds great !

Ingredients: Aqua, glycerin, panthenol, hydroxymethylcellulose, pentylene glycol, camelliasinensis leaf extract, lepidium sativum sprout extract, aspalatus linearis leaf extract, sorbitol, lecithin, allantoin, maltodextrin, sodium hyaluronate, lactic acid, urea, sodium lactate, serine, sodiumchloride, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium benzoate, phenoxyethanol.

Rival de Loop does not test on animals

What it does:

Detox action: studies have shown, that the active ingredient found in garden cress (lepidum sativum) can protect cells by helping eliminate environmental toxins. These laboratory studies on cultivated skin cells do, however, not necessarily represent its action on our skin. But still very interresting. Furthermore, garden cress extract has an anti-oxidative (cell protecting) action and improves skin firmness and elasticity.

Green tea (camellia chinensis) and extract from Rooibos (also a tea variety) are both powerfull anti-oxidants. On top of this, the product contains a mix of hydrating (hyaluronic acid, urea, lactic acid) and skin soothing ingredients (allantoin, panthenol). Imrpressive !

The product has a gel-like, slightly running texture.

Fragrance free.

How to use? Serums are concentrates and are meant to be the first step after cleansing and toning. OK for use around the eyes (although there is an eye version of this product).

Plus: very budgetfriendly (I paid 4,99 Euro for 30 ml !), lots of high-quality ingredients, that you would normally expect in more expensive products. Anti-oxidants for cell protection.

Minus: has a slightly sticky feel.

Natural? No, but there are quite a few plant extracts in the product. Vegan.

Meant for: although the product is marketed for “very mature” skin, anyone from 18 to 100 can use it. Cellular-protection is always a good thing and the texture is very light.

Available at Rossmann stores in Germany or through their webshop.
